What Is the Travel Buggy GT Flight Kit?

The GT Flight Kit is a two-piece travel accessory package designed specifically to make flying with your Grand Tourer power wheelchair simple and stress-free.

• Durable GT Travel Bag: Fits over the folded Grand Tourer frame to shield the bodywork, seating, and motors during handling and storage.

• Battery & Joystick Carry-On Bag: A padded case designed to hold your removable GT lithium-ion battery and sensitive joystick controller in the airplane cabin.

Together, these components protect sensitive electronics and maintain compliance with international air carrier regulations.

Key features:

• Tailored exact fit for the Travel Buggy Grand Tourer (GT)

• Heavy-duty, water-resistant protective fabrics

• Full-coverage frame protection for gate-checking or vehicle trunk storage

• Padded carry-on case keeps fragile electronics safely with you in the aircraft cabin

• Reinforced handles and shoulder strap for comfortable transport

• Folds compactly when not in use

How Does the GT Flight Kit Protect Your Wheelchair During Air Travel?

When you fly with a power wheelchair, airlines typically gate-check the folded frame while requiring lithium-ion batteries and delicate electronics to be removed and carried into the cabin.

The main travel bag protects the main chassis from physical scratches, dust, grease, and rain while being moved on cargo belts or airport tarmac. Simultaneously, the dedicated carry-on case provides a padded barrier for your joystick controller and 24V lithium battery pack, ensuring terminal contacts and delicate controls remain undamaged during transit.

Is the GT Flight Kit Airline-Approved?

Yes. The kit is specifically structured around airline and TSA/CATSA regulations for mobility devices.

Airlines require passengers to disconnect sensitive controls and take lithium batteries on board as cabin carry-on. CATSA and IATA guidance specify that spare or removed lithium-ion batteries must be protected against short circuits and carried in the passenger compartment. The included padded carry-on bag satisfies this requirement by shielding battery terminals and keeping key components protected under your seat or in the overhead bin.

Always notify your airline in advance that you are traveling with a battery-powered mobility aid.
