The Drive Medical Med-Aire Plus 8 Mattress is an active therapeutic support surface combining alternating-pressure and low-air-loss technologies. Designed for home-care and long-term-care environments, the system is intended to support pressure redistribution while also helping manage friction, shear and the microclimate surrounding the user.
This standard configuration measures approximately 36″ wide x 80″ long x 8″ high and supports users weighing up to 450 lb.
The mattress uses 20 individual air cells to help provide immersion and envelopment. Alternating-pressure operation changes pressure between cells on a programmed cycle, while low-air-loss functionality helps manage the environment between the support surface and the user.
A dedicated pillow feature maintains support around the user’s head.
The digital control unit allows caregivers to select from four cycle times: 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes. Adjustable comfort and weight settings allow support to be tailored to the individual user.
The system also incorporates Auto-Firm and Seat Inflate functions along with microprocessor feedback and a lock-out function.
Three diagnostic audio and visual alarms can notify caregivers of pressure, system or power-related issues.
The 8-inch-deep air cells use a cell-on-cell design intended to reduce the risk of bottoming out. The lower cells can also maintain a degree of support during a power interruption.
Individual air cells can be removed using quick-disconnect fittings for servicing.
A removable four-way-stretch polyurethane cover is fluid resistant, low shear and vapor permeable. These characteristics help manage moisture and friction around the skin-support interface.
A CPR valve allows rapid deflation of the mattress when required. Tubing can also be quickly disconnected using an EZ Lock / Quick Release connection.
