One of the Expedition’s main advantages is its relatively low product weight. At approximately 19 lb, it is easier for many caregivers to lift and place into a vehicle than a conventional steel wheelchair.
Despite its lightweight construction, the transport chair supports users weighing up to 300 lb.
The frame folds flat for transport or storage. A convenient lever positioned on the chair back also allows the back section to fold down.
This helps make the Expedition suitable for vehicle trunks, storage areas and situations where available space is limited.
The chair uses 12-inch rear flat-free wheels. The larger rear-wheel design helps provide practical rolling performance while eliminating the need to maintain pneumatic tire pressure.
As a transport chair, the Expedition is designed to be pushed by a caregiver or companion rather than self-propelled by the seated user.
Companion-operated wheel locks allow the attendant to control the locking system from behind the chair. This provides convenient access for the person responsible for pushing and positioning the chair.
