Description
Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed
The Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed is a versatile homecare bed designed to provide powered positioning, adjustable bed height, caregiver convenience, and comfortable everyday support. Its full-electric operation allows the head section, foot section, and overall bed height to be adjusted using an easy-to-use hand pendant, helping users and caregivers create appropriate positions for rest, transfers, personal care, reading, and other everyday activities.
The 15005LP model features a reinforced channel-frame design, zinc-coated spring deck, heavy-duty bed ends, a three-motor power system, manual emergency overrides, and flexible low-deck configurations. The bed supports a 350 lb patient weight capacity with a 450 lb total weight capacity, including the occupant and accessories used with the bed.
Full Electric Positioning
One of the main advantages of the Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed is its powered adjustment system.
Using the hand pendant, the user or caregiver can electrically adjust the head section, foot section, and overall bed-frame height. This provides greater convenience than a semi-electric bed, where overall bed height typically requires manual adjustment.
The powered positioning system can help caregivers position the bed at a more convenient working height while also allowing users to adjust the sleeping surface for comfort and everyday activities.
Low Deck Height
The bed provides flexible low-height positioning to help accommodate different homecare requirements.
Drive Medical provides two caster configurations:
- Roll at Any Height: approximately 14.81″ to 23″
- Roll at Low Height: approximately 9.25″ to 23″
The lower configuration can provide a reduced sleep-surface height when appropriate, while the electrically powered height adjustment allows the bed to be raised for transfers and caregiver access.
Three-Motor Power System
The Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed uses a three-motor system to provide powered head, foot, and height adjustment.
The height-adjustment motor and head/foot deck motors arrive pre-installed on the foot section, helping simplify setup.
Drive Medical describes the motor system as providing quiet, smooth operation for comfortable position changes.
Auto-Contour Positioning
The bed includes Auto-Contour functionality, which raises the head and foot sections together during positioning.
This coordinated movement is designed to help the user remain more comfortably positioned while the bed is adjusted, rather than allowing the body to slide as easily toward the foot of the bed.
The feature can also provide a convenient supported position for activities such as reading, watching television, or speaking with caregivers and visitors.
Manual Override During Power Failure
The Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed includes manual backup functionality for situations where electrical power is unavailable.
A top-mounted Hi/Lo crank provides access to height adjustment, while a manual crank motor override can be used for sleep-surface adjustments.
This provides an additional method of repositioning the bed if normal powered operation is temporarily unavailable.
Reinforced Channel Frame
The bed uses a channel-frame construction designed to provide strength while reducing unnecessary weight.
The reinforced frame is designed to resist twisting and bending during normal use, while the zinc-coated spring deck provides a durable sleeping platform.
The base bed weighs approximately 169 lb, with a carton shipping weight of approximately 184 lb.
Durable Homecare Bed Ends
Heavy-duty bed ends include durable HD polyethylene molded covers designed to provide an attractive appearance while remaining easier to maintain.
The headboard is taller than the footboard, helping the bed blend more naturally into a home environment than some traditional institutional-style beds.
This combination of medical functionality and home-oriented styling can make the bed appropriate for long-term homecare settings.
Compatible Rail Options
The Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed is available with compatible half-rail and full-rail configurations.
Drive Medical offers rails separately as well as in various bed packages. Labels and colour-coded springs are incorporated into the bed system to help support correct rail installation.
Because rails are configuration-specific, customers should confirm compatibility before purchasing or installing bed rails.
Optional Mattress Packages
Drive Medical offers multiple versions of this bed with different mattress configurations, including innerspring, therapeutic support, and Gravity-series mattresses.
For this Motion Care page, however, we are using the base 15005LP bed model. A mattress should therefore only be described as included if Motion Care specifically bundles one with the bed.
This avoids customers assuming that every 15005LP purchase automatically includes a mattress.
Optional Bed Extension Kit
An optional 15005EXTKIT-L extension kit is available to increase the bed length from approximately 80 inches to 84 inches.
This accessory can provide additional sleeping-surface length when required.
Compatibility and installation should be confirmed before the extension kit is added to the bed.
350 lb Patient Weight Capacity
The Drive Medical Full Electric Low Height Bed supports a maximum patient weight of 350 lb.
Drive Medical specifies a 450 lb total weight capacity, which includes the occupant as well as the mattress, rails, trapeze, accessories, and personal items placed on the bed.
The total weight limit should always be considered when accessories are added.
Homecare and Caregiver Convenience
The combination of full-electric positioning, low-height adjustment, reinforced construction, hand-pendant control, manual backup, Auto-Contour functionality, and multiple accessory configurations makes this bed suitable for a variety of homecare environments.
It can provide a practical solution for individuals who require adjustable sleeping and positioning support while also giving caregivers greater flexibility when assisting with transfers and everyday care.
